Paddles up (first double interview) with Hannah and Evelyn
NOTE: This episode contains some language that may not be suitable for some but mostly it is non explicit. Run time is around 1 hour and 25 minutes with a break around 42 minutes.  On this double guest (my first one) episode, I talk with fellow Chinese adoptees from VAX dragon boat season 1 and 2. We share our perspectives and learn from one another about friendships, childhood, siblings, nature/nurture and decide this group therapy was solid. Follow @h.langr.outside @notthefruitsnacks @vaxdragonboat on instagram. Quotes: It wasn’t that I actually had sit down discussions that I had about adoption stuff now that I do with a therapist. I would have needed it because I didn't have the tools to figure out what was missing or what my needs were. I didn’t realize that I wasn't ok. It would've been very helpful to have known that at 15. When you don't think about it, things just seem fine. But there's something down beneath the surface affecting everything else and it warped my  sense of safety and normalcy. - Hannah As far as overcompensating… I would try to be more asian but it was never enough. The incessant comments about IT not being enough. I wore a qipao because I really truly thought it was beautiful and I am Chinese American. It’s part of my culture that I want to show off.  I’ve always tried to try….Not necessarily because I want to prove something but just because I want to be in touch with that part of me.
