This episode carefully avoids the superficial, instead offering a deep, authentic dive into the soul of chill music. Kicking off with Crew Deep's "A Whole New Level" (T.Markakis Remix), the session immediately establishes a mood of relaxed sophistication. The track's deep bass lines and subtle, energetic beats set a tone that's both calming and invigorating. It's a perfect example of how Deep House can be both soothing and stimulating. Following this, "Free" by Because Of Art, Jody Wisternoff & James Grant, takes the listener on a melodic journey. Its blend of smooth rhythms and airy synths creates an atmosphere that's both dreamy and grounded, a hallmark of our Chill Out sessions. Wassu's "The Way Back" continues this narrative. It's a track that feels like a reflective stroll, with its gentle progression and organic textures. The beauty of Organic House is in its ability to weave natural sounds into an electronic tapestry, and this track does it brilliantly. "Reverie" by PROFF further adds to the depth of "Serendipia." The song's intricate harmonies and subtle build-ups encapsulate the essence of Melodic House. It's a piece that speaks directly to the emotions, weaving a story without words. As "Serendipia" progresses, each track, from M.O.S. & Krasa Rosa's "We Are Kids" to Tony Lionni's introspective "Talking To Myself," enriches the session's narrative. These aren't just tracks; they're chapters in a story of relaxation and introspection. In "Serendipia," we strive to go beyond the usual. Each selection isn't just a part of the Chill Out session; it's an integral piece of a larger musical tapestry, one that invites listeners to unwind and explore the depths of chill music. With "Serendipia," we're not just listening to music; we're experiencing a journey through sound, emotion, and tranquility. We figured the universe was giving us a nudge to drop another one for those seeking a mental escape. Clocking in at just over two hours, this latest installment is finely-tuned to serve as the ideal soundtrack for your chill-out sessions. Musical genres are like living organisms; they evolve. In keeping with the ever-changing landscape, this new Chill Out mix incorporates an eclectic blend of Melodic House and the freshest genre on the block—Amapiano. For the uninitiated, Amapiano burst onto the scene in South Africa in the mid-2010s, carving a unique niche for itself. Picture it as a sumptuous cocktail of deep house, jazz, and lounge vibes, all underscored by throbbing basslines and ethereal synths. But what really sets this mix apart? "Be The Change" serves as the linchpin of the experience. It's not just any chill-out track; it's the perfect chill out, intertwining each musical element so fluidly that the transition from one tune to the next becomes almost imperceptible. That's the beauty of it—the lines blur, creating a seamless auditory tapestry that envelops you in its embrace. And that, we reckon, is the essence of a true chill-out session. Over the years, Party Favorz has been a sonic playground, experimenting with various versions and flavors of chill out. We've been storytellers, weaving mixes that sometimes feature sound effects as threads connecting each song. Our earliest sets even took you on a global tour, echoing themes that ranged from the meditative to the melancholic, and from hope to contemplation. While these Chill Out mixes may not be the blockbuster hits in our diverse array of releases, they've amassed a tribe of devout followers who find solace in the tranquility they offer. So yes, the Chill Out series may not hold the crown for popularity within the expansive Party Favorz universe, but it does boast a die-hard community of aficionados. It's for you, the loyals, the seekers of calm amidst chaos, that we dedicate this latest Chill Out offering. Until the next time...ENJOY! Designed as a tranquil counterpoint to life's chaos, this set came together through a meticulous year-long curation process. While the initial plan was to release multiple sets throughout the year, the immense effort required for our other expansive collections meant that a second installment kept getting delayed. But good things come to those who wait. Throughout the year, I've been carefully siphoning off tracks, amassing a treasure trove of Melodic House, Progressive House, Microhouse, Deep House, and Lounge gems. As the year drew to a close, it was finally time to sift through the selections, adding a few last-minute discoveries to craft a set that clocks in at over five hours of pure, unadulterated bliss. I understand that the sheer length of "As One" could easily warrant splitting it into two separate sets. However, creating additional cover art for a second volume would consume precious time that's already earmarked for a slew of upcoming projects. Our roadmap between now and year's end is jam-packed, and we're committed to maintaining a smooth workflow to deliver quality music sets across various genres. The upside to this one-stop-shop approach? You get a voluminous Chill Out experience that you can pause and play at your leisure. Whenever you hit play again, you'll be greeted by fresh, yet familiar tunes that continue to soothe the soul and quiet the mind. Don't let the variety of genres fool you—each track serves a unified purpose: to offer solace and tranquility. From the mixing table to your speakers, "As One" aims to be your go-to backdrop for navigating life's complexities, providing a harmonious soundtrack that steadies the nerves and lifts the spirit. So if you're looking to find some calm amid the storm or simply want to unwind, "As One" has been carefully put together to bring you peace and serenity, one beat at a time. There are some points where you might think the roof is on fire but everything quickly simmers down to a low boil. I began compiling tracks for the next Disco House and Peak Hour series and had a lot of great songs that didn't quite fit into these categories. It was something I had been anticipating since Beatport expanded their genre categories to include Funky House, Jackin House (already a Traxsource staple), Melodic House & Techno, Organic House / Downtempo, and Garage. For the most part, the way they divide up the genres is meaningless. While some songs have a truly identifiable rhythm, most do not. When you add in Breaks / Breakbeat, Electronica, House, Indie Dance, and Minimal and Deep Tech genres, there's not enough differentiating most songs. Some elements are identifiable allowing for categorization but most fall into a grey area. The biggest benefit to adding in all these different genres is that it allows DJs to sample more sounds while finding great music that in the past may have gone unnoticed. For that reason, I applaud Beatport (and to a greater extent JunoDownload) for providing better options for discovering new music. What I am sure about is that many of these songs spread across different genres are simply excellent — even if they don't quite fit into the Party Favorz category list. I pulled together all my favorite tracks and started mixing while discarding songs that I couldn't make work. The result is not the usual Lounge / Chill sets of the previous efforts but more like the earlier Deep Edition and Mixtape Sessions series Party Favorz was known for ten years ago. To be certain, this is not like previous efforts so I want to ensure expectations are met. This is a darker journey but a much more satisfying one that ends on a high and jubilant note. Up next will likely be Disco House followed by Peak Hour before we get into Dance Club and Circuit & Anthems. For now, put your slippers on and a few logs on fire while you kickback and enjoy some winter chill out music. Until the next time...ENJOY! Summer Farewell 2021 | The Chill Edition
As we near the end of the 2021 summer season, Party Favorz is cooling things down with our latest Chill Out session, Summer Farewell. This set features a wide variety of laidback styles including Deep House, Electronica, Lounge, NuJazz, Minimal, and Progressive House to help you slow down and prepare for Fall. Granted, the summer weather seems to be lasting longer and longer these days. In Georgia, we used to get a taste of Fall in late August but for the last several years, the cooling weather doesn't show up until late September or October before jumping right into winter weather. Fall has always been my favorite time of the year but it just keeps getting shorter and shorter. Take note that I finally used the massive summer sleeper hit "Love Tonight" by Shouse. If you wonder why there are so many different versions of this track out there using the same refrain, it's because of this song — included here — in its original darker Indie groove form with the full vocals. The song itself has taken on a life of its own and will end up being in the Top 10 of the year's best Dance Club songs (likely the Robin Schulz version). We have two tracks from newcomer Rosko who just happens to be my nephew. Other than he used to DJ parties in college, I'm not sure where this came from because his gig is a graphic design and advertising. I'm excited for him and look forward to hearing more about his work in the future. I might suggest he ad the album to Beatport, Traxsource, JunoDownload, and Amazon Music as well and select tracks on Kings of Spin for greater exposure. He sent me his first album 'Agents of Purity' out now on Spotify and Apple Music. Check out 'Noseslide' below. [youtube v="EK757-NlI6g"] With Labor Day weekend around the corner, Summer Farewell will NOT be the final word of the season. I've already got the next T-Dance — the Sunday afternoon pleasure of our gay boys — set in the can that will drop next week. Far be it for Party Favorz to leave y'all on a somber note before heading into the fall. I will say that this set is a ball of energy and lots of fun. Until the next time...ENJOY! Summer Farewell is an annual collection but could be anything from Dance Club, Disco House and in past years Chill Out. Since this isn't a normal year for music releases and it certainly isn't a normal year for life in general — Party Favorz thought it was highly appropriate to bring the temperature down several notches so we can ease into fall and pull back on our anxiety medications that the current political climate and pandemic have wrought upon us. This set is designed to achieve that goal so you can sit back, relax, smoke a fat phone, drink a glass of wine or do whatever it is that allows you to escape the daily bullshit of our world. I'm sorry to say — after next week it's going to heat up again with daily assaults on not only our way of life but our republic. For those of you in California — thoughts and prayers are nowhere near enough to express the deep regret I have at the way you've been ignored by the current administration. Stay strong and stay safe. I'll be taking some time off to finish some work around our home. Since our 20 year old child Katherine passed away — I've been slowly replacing all of our furniture she destroyed over the years by just being her feline self. We've lived here since 2017 when this place was still under construction and plan on staying as long as possible. I need to finish hanging up artwork and paint a floating ledge and our patio furniture that was damaged by a flood in our garage from the unit above it. It's nothing that a fresh coat of paint won't fix. I've pretty much got September and part of October mapped out already with some sweet releases heading your way. Everything is a bit jumbled because new club releases are not quite as bountiful as they have been in the past. So, I wait until there's enough to compile a set that meets our standards for release instead of just throwing a bunch of crap at you. I hope things are shaping up well where you're at and if not just remember — it will get better. Until the next time...ENJOY! Be Free is a culmination of some of the finest in Lounge music at the moment with a tad bit of low-key House (see the fantastic "Thing Can Only Get Better" by Peyton) and others. This set has Jazz, experimental, melodic, Indie and just a good solid mixture of mood music when you just want to sit back, unwind with your favorite beverage or smoke a fat one. I'll let you decide. It is a fantastic escape from the realities of all the bullshit we as a nation are currently going through. THINGS ARE DIRE — PLEASE WEAR A MASK WHEN OUT IN PUBLIC I was recently criticized by one of our longtime followers from France about my recent comments for everyone to wear a mask. I think my unique American perspective got lost on him because if you lived here — you would see all these idiots throwing a hissy fit at Costco and other places for being denied entry or service for not wearing a mask as if it's some right ingrained in our Constitution (it's not). These are private businesses who set the terms for service any way they want. After all — no one bitches about "no shoes, no shirt, no service." No doubt these same idiots claimed that forcing people to wear their seat belts violated some imaginary Constitutional right they dreamed up and that it's some conspiracy cooked up by their favorite boogieman the "Deep State" (whatever that is) but I digress. I'll just say this is not unique to America but we do seem to have an overly-abundant amount of these nut jobs compared to other countries. Back to the music: This set came out way better than I could have hoped for and it's my hope you folks will enjoy it as much as I did putting it together. Recently, it was discovered that David Morales' remix of 'Shelter,' featuring samples from Sade's 'I Never Thought I'd See the Day,' is quite a rarity. This sparked a renewed interest in my existing collection of Sade dance remixes. Consequently, I embarked on a quest to find more of these gems, only to find a sea of fans and a plethora of unofficial remixes that echo my own enthusiasm for the group. Sade's Unwavering Global Influence Let's set the record straight: Sade hasn't dropped a new studio album since 2010. Despite this hiatus, their fan base has not only remained consistent but has flourished. Their mystique and talent have captivated millions globally, and it's about time we honor this iconic ensemble in our Diva Hall of Fame. Dance Remixes: Sade’s Iconic Songs Reimagined Dive into the world of Sade dance remixes, and you'll discover intriguing takes on their classic tracks. The Palinoia Remix of 'The Sweetest Taboo' offers a chill vibe, transforming the timeless song into a tranquil journey. Similarly, 'Nothing Can Come Between Us,' remixed by Master Chic, emerges as a sublime rendition that perfectly blends the group's original elegance with modern house beats. Chill Out and Relax with Sade Most of these Sade remixes align with our Chill Out series, characterized by slower house music beats designed for relaxation. For instance, 'Feel No Pain' gets a mesmerizing makeover by Nellee Hooper, while 'King of Sorrow' undergoes a transformation by Fun Lovin' Criminals, lending a unique, languid feel to the song. Fandom Fuels Creativity: Unofficial Remixes The feverish fan following has inspired a wide array of unofficial remixes. 'Hang On To Your Love' gets a unique spin with Greg Delon's Bootleg version, while 'Smooth Operator' becomes an upbeat dancefloor number in DJ "S" Bootleg Dance Re-Mix. These remixes attest to the boundless creativity that Sade's music has inspired over the years. The Diva Series: A Tribute to Sade Given Sade's 75 million album sales and an army of devoted fans, it's no surprise that they have secured a spot in our Diva Hall of Fame. In this series, we feature a wide array of remixes, from 'Soldier Of Love' remixed by Jason B, to 'By Your Side,' given a dreamy overlay by Ben Watt's Lazy Dog Remix. Each rendition pays tribute to the original while offering listeners a fresh auditory experience. Summer Farewell 2016
Two weeks ago, I had written a fantastic ode to the end of the summer. I saved the post in WordPress (my blogging platform) and left for some breakfast. When I came back, I noticed there was a new WordPress update and another for a plugin I've used religiously since the beginning called Jetpack. I updated both only to find that I couldn't publish my awesome post for Summer Farewell. Think of plugins like apps for your smartphone. You get notices of frequent updates, which are usually patches for security holes or in other cases enhancements. You would be foolish not to update these on a regular basis as they become available, but that is for another discussion. I took the usual steps of deactivating each of the plugins on my site to determine the issue that was preventing me from posting only to find (after several of you emailed) one issue after another. Jetpack is one of those plugins that has over 30 different services within one and has been around for a long time, It's awesome, it's stable, not bloated, and doesn't slow down your site. However, after disabling each service that I did use from within the plugin itself, I determined that their 'spelling and grammar' service for writing posts was indeed the main culprit. I wrote to the author of the plugin confirming all the steps I had taken to come to my conclusion and he was very helpful (unlike other authors who either never respond or are just complete assholes). Unfortunately, he did not have an immediate fix so I had to dump the plugin and replace each of the pertinent services with alternate plugins for the full functionality of Party Favorz. It's likely I'll go back to them at some point but for the time being, the most important issue was getting the site working. During this process, I had also rolled my site back to a previous state only to lose my awesome post and I didn't have a copy on my hard drive [sigh]. Recreating it again was out of the cards. Thankfully, I had already uploaded the mix to Amazon for storage, which is where you great folks are downloading from. At the same time all this was occurring, Windows 10 on my computer forced the Anniversary update and totally wrecked my computer. After the update, I was only getting a black screen. When I tried to roll it back it did not work. I had to reset my computer a multitude of times and start all over again, only to find that the very first update to Windows would cause the same black screen issue again. Then I read about the millions of people that either had that issue or one of 20 or so from their obviously not-well-tested massive update. I started a chat with them in their forum and performed all of the steps they suggested then one day they just stopped responding so I called them. I sat on the phone for 2 hours and no one ever picked up, yet they still had the balls to send me a text to ask about my experience calling support. Are you fucking kidding me? While all this is going on, I find out on Monday that my father had been admitted into a geriatric psych ward because of thoughts of suicide. My father and my best friend have been dealing with progressive Parkinson's for a long time now and dementia (Alzheimer's runs in our family). Sometimes he's fine and we can carry on our friendly discussions as he's a Trump supporter. Any mention of Hillary will totally set him off LOL. Other times, he thinks he's someplace he's not are conjures up grand stories of unbelief. My parents are rapidly draining their retirement money with his ongoing issues and my mother is doing her best to take care of him. They can't afford assisted living. My sister flies down from Dallas every couple of months to help out and has taken over their finances. My role in Georgia is to deal with their insurance, making sure they get reimbursed and now I'm trying to find assistance programs to stem the flow of the money drain. Thankfully, I have a good friend who after getting his nursing degree in the late...

Summer Chill 2016
As we move into the heat of summer, I thought we should cool things down a bit with Summer Chill, the latest in the Mixtape series. Things kick off with Zedd & Aloe Blacc's ode to Willy Wonka's Candyman and totally rewritten lyrics turning it into an uplifting song about peace, love, and unity; something we could ALL use about now. Throw in a little bounce (Los Angeles) and reggae-bump (Jetlag) and the beautifully elegant Finally, you kinda get a feel as to where this set is heading; but then ... I switch gears to J Paul Getto's Vibe; a song I've been sitting on since March as I knew exactly where I wanted it to appear. I'm not sure what song this samples but the overall feel-good 70's "soul-vibe" is so addictive I can listen to it on repeat all day long and never get sick of it. Shortly after, we move into Midnight Bumper, which I'd swear is a pumped-up instrumental of Grace Jones' version of La Vie En Rose. From there we move into some late-night soul tracks, which set the mood for a glass of wine and a few puffs from your peace pipe [grin]. Next up is another feel-good track Bertie Bassett's The Only One, which channels the fantastic 1999 smash Big Love by Pete Heller. Wait for the drop and you'll immediately recognize the vocal sample by Party Favorz' favorite DIVA, Miss Loleatta. I'm a sucker for these samples, but only when it works and this just hits it out of the park. Truth is, every song included here is a winner but Kevin Karlson and Nelly's Got the Love just feels right as does last year's mega-hit Es Vedra by Gabriel & Castellon. Oh course, this wouldn't be a proper summertime chill set without the easy-breezy Summertime, originally a hit for Will Smith in the early 90s. I dropped the instrumental house version which just screams summer. Finally, I bring things to a close with Emapea's Good Old Days, and its heavy early 90's production makes it the perfect closer for this set. I had so many fantastic songs to work with this go-around, I had to leave several on the floor but have every intention of coming back at the end of August with a Summer Farewell mixtape that will include them plus new favorites. The Mixtape Sessions | Winter ^16
It's been almost a year since the last Mixtape release; far too long if you ask me.  I thought I could forego this series and just drop a few songs into my House sets to satisfy that itch but it just left me wanting more. Frankly, there's just too much damn good music coming out these days for me to leave them on the cutting-room floor. I took a few personal favorites (All My Friends, I Took a Pill in Ibiza) from earlier House sets and mixed them in with newer go-to favorites of the moment, to make a soul-satisfying, mind-altering, mood enhancing cocktail-blend that goes down smooth with no aftertaste. While every song included in this one and a half hour+ set is fantastic, I'm obligated to point out certain tracks that standout and/or strike a serious chord with me. Sandy Rivera's awesome "Longtime Coming" revives the Sam Cooke classic "A Change Is Gonna Come" and wraps it into a deep and funky house tune that befits the original.  In an election year with an angry electorate, this song accurately reflects the mood of the country. Just when you thought it wasn't possible to milk a dead cow any longer, the forever fabulous Loleatta Holloway is sampled (yet again) to create "Shelter" by Syncrosonic.  "Love Vibration" is quite possibly the most sampled song in history. Every phrase, verbiage, exaggeration and iteration of Lola's disco classic has been dissected in whole or in itsy bitsy parts to create entirely new songs for a new generation of house music lovers.  "Shelter" represents one of the most effective uses of sampling that creates an overwhelming sense of warmth not heard in house music in a very longtime. Other standout tracks include the devious and delectable indie track "BTFU (Mommy Issues)" by Mark Johns and an un-credited vocalist, "Wasted on You" by Louis Futon & ROZES (who is quickly becoming the darling of the indie dance world) and the deep house bomb "I Love It When You" by Sam Callahan. That's about all for this hump day and I hope it helps you slide into your weekend with ease.  I'll be back on Friday with part 2 of the Winter Edition featuring some more hot tribal beats for the circuit boys. Until then ...ENJOY! The Mixtape Sessions Spring 2015 Volume 2
Following up on v1 of the Spring Mixtape Sessions, I've got some sweet tunes that have been on heavy rotation in my phone for the past several weeks. From classic re-works of Janet Jackson and Funkstar De Luxe (Bob Marley) to the classic remakes Better Off Alone (originally by Alice Deejay) and Show Me Love (originally by Robin S), this set represents the anti-top 40 with brilliant tunes on the chill tip. Show Me Love is a magnificent re-interpretation of the early 90s house classic that defies all logic on paper until you hear it.  Sam Feldt's soulful delivery shines bright with a sharp focus on the lyrics that were otherwise overlooked in the original.  Nothing short of brilliant! These songs are sandwiched between a hefty dose of originals that I won't pick apart individually other than to say they are some of the finest tunes you won't hear on the radio at the moment. As usual, I close things out with something uplifting and Dance fits the bill quite nicely.  Gina Carey's vocals and spiritual reading channel an early 80s Stephanie Mills on this excellent slice of soulful house. Make sure to check back later today and tomorrow because I've decided to go ahead and post the next Diva Series and the 2015 Spring Edition for the circuit boys is going up tomorrow.  So DON'T MISS OUT! The Mixtape Sessions Spring 2015 Volume 1
Welcome to the first Mixtape Sessions of 2015.  Unlike the last few, I was aiming for a happier vibe with the next two offerings; something that would reflect better days to come.  It still gets a little moody in spots, but nothing that would make you want to put a noose around your neck LOL. One thing I can say for certain, this is the only place you're gonna find The Jackson 5, Simon & Garfunkel right next to Diplo and Iggy Azalea LOL.  I guess I'll just have to let the set speak for itself. Though I have two of these on tap for you folks, I've decided to break things up and post a new Diva set tomorrow and then the second Mixtape next week followed by another Diva set.  It's all good; so don't freak out if I don't follow the natural order. I'll be back tomorrow with Taylor Dayne's official induction into the Diva Hall of Fame.  Until then ...ENJOY! The Mixtape Sessions [November 2014]

The Mixtape Sessions [November 2014]
Welcome to the final Mixtape Sessions of 2014 and what a treat this set is!  We got a lot to cover here so let’s get right to it. Kicking things off is “Give Me Sunshine” by Santa Maradona F.C. featuring Lucy Spraggan.  Think of the first time you heard that “feel-good” song on the radio and your body’s endorphins just suddenly flooded your brain with all sorts of goodwill and happy feelings.  Maybe you recently got that feeling when you heard Pharell’s “Happy” or perhaps back in the day with Sheryl Crow’s “All I Wanna Do.”  “Give Me Sunshine” is simply one of those songs.  A simple narrative that tells a story set to a bouncy beat goes a long way in my book. “Sunshine” bleeds into  EelkeKleijn’s “Mistakes I've Made,” which is set to a backdrop of an old western theme with a deep house beat.  The song recounts all the past mistakes made in his life but does reconcile that he “gets stronger” and leaves the question if there is a future.  Keeping up with the indie-house inspiration, I paired this song with “Netzwerk (Falls Like Rain)” by Klangkarussell (another soothing deep house tune with a surprising Afro-choir dropped in during the chorus). From here, we begin a transition from indie-deep-house (Soul For You) to more soulful deep house “Mood For You” by Knox and Moss. The big surprise here is the Justin Faust rework of Janet Jackson’s early millennial hit “Someone To Call My Lover.”  While I've been a bit skeptical of the gender-bending vocal remixes that are currently the trend, it works surprisingly well here. Sam Smith doesn’t need any more praise, so I’ll move on to Zhu whose anonymity and solid productions have quickly raised his or her’s recognition since being introduced earlier this year.  “Faded” is a deep and moody deep house that is intriguing while at the same time comes across as a bit disturbing.  I love this song but can’t help picturing it in some dark seedy movie about a serial killer LOL.  It gives me chills. BIG HEADS UP to How To Dress Well and the Cyril Hahn remix of his “Precious Love.”  This is a sweet slice of R&B electronica-pop and shows a budding untapped talent that deserves to be plucked for greater things.  At the very least we need to get him some Pro Tools to master his music, but don’t let that distract from the true talent invoked in his music. Perhaps the one song that not only struck a chord with me but I've had on repeat for over a month is Birdy’s “Skinny Love.”  Sebastian Carter does the remix honor here by turning in an addictive and hypnotic beat that sucks you in with Birdy’s alluring vocals.  He also buries the lyrics in the beats with the exception of "And I told you to be patient And I told you to be fine And I told you to be balanced And I told you to be kind" allowing listeners not familiar with the original to turn the song into whatever they want it to mean to them.  Crying and driving around the ATL late at night listening to this song has done just that, so let’s move on shall we. I change course with the excellent Diplo remix of Zola Jesus’ “Go Blank Sea.”  When you get to the break with this kind of gangsta-electronic swag, you’ll have your hands swaying in the air. This all leads to another go-to song of the moment, “Beggin for Thread” by BANKS.  If you bank this against (no pun intended) Keiza’s latest “Giant in My Heart” also included in this set, you’ll get the sense I’m a sucker love-lost songs.  Okay, I am but these songs are so cleverly written and crafted it’s hard not to be sucked in. If anyone that Chainsmokers are just one-offs with hits like “Selfie” and “Kanye” better think again.  These guys are proving their in tune pop sensibilities and are quickly rising to the level of Calvin Harris with Anna of the North’s “Sway.”  I fully expect to be hearing a lot more from these guys in 2015. Additional indie (Crystaleyes) and deep house tunes (Slip Away, Falling in Love, We Were Young) round out the best of the rest until we g...

Autumn 2014 Mixtape Sessions Volume 2
Happy weekend everybody! As promised, I’m sending up the Autumn 2014 Mixtape Sessions Volume 2 for your relaxation and pleasure.  I’m thinking I should have been a little more original and called these Fall Chill, but I was in brain drain mode at the time. While equally as stimulating as the first, this set definitely pulls back the reigns for a steady stream of soul-satisfying atmospherics.  The slow-moving beats of “Djon Maya Mai” by French duo Synapson kicks the set-off and pretty much sets the mood thereafter.  Each deep house, indie or nu-disco tune smoothly glides in and out of consciousness creating a great escape from reality. Every song here is a standout but if I had to pick some jewels other than the first song, I’d definitely go with London Grammar‘s beautiful “Strong,”  the indie to nu-disco “Salt” by Junior Sanchez  & Bad Suns and the lilting elegance of “Simple Love” by Julio Bashmore with J Danna on vocals. Jessie Ware who was in my personal top ten for 2013, has been dropping some new singles and remixes of previous tunes since June.  I’m not sure if these will be included on a new album but they are all so damn good it was hard to decide which one to pick.  Ultimately, I went with the “Two Inch Punch Mix” of If You’re Never Gonna Move just for its sheer beauty and a previous personal connection to the song.  Jessie’s highly anticipated new album Tough Love drops October 6th so be sure to keep your hearts and ears open. Newcomer Superhand recently released their second single “Crystal Pianos.”  The Anglo-Swedish duo is an experimental team dabbling in musical sounds that draw from rock, electronica, blues, and soul.  At first listen, “Crystal Pianos” sounds like you just stepped onto the Dark Side of the Moon and Rachel Yamagata joined the fun by jamming on her piano.  Clocking in at just under ten minutes, this one song allows Inga Calstrom and Leck Fischer to showcase their influences, which yielded this dark masterpiece. As usual, I like to mix things up with something a bit unexpected and always try to close these sets out with something upbeat.  The Marlon Hoffstadt remix of Moon Boots’ “Don’t Ask Me Why” flips the original with an uplifting bounce.  I like to call it the “carousel” mix.  One listen and you’ll get it. Finally, I closed the set with what I will say right here and now is (or should be IMHO) one of the best pop songs of the year but won’t.  The Knock’s “Classic” truly is what its name implies.  This disco-infused pop number is so perfect in every way that once you hear it you won’t be able to shake it.  Now folks, if this had major label support it’d be sitting at number one right now.  If Katy Perry got her claws into it, it would have been number one last year.  But, why bother?  Crista Ru’s (aka Powers) vocals combined with this wickedly addicting production make for perfect late-summer fun.  When she sings “Come to me baby, don’t be shy, don’t be shy” the only response you’ll have is “I’ll be there in a hot second” LOL.  Look for a new album by the Knocks later this fall. Party Favorz is currently in release mode, so I’m gonna go ahead and start dropping the rest of the releases each day so I can back up and clear my hard drive and start working on some new projects for you folks.  I’ll be back tomorrow with something new for ya. Until then …ENJOY! Album : Autumn Mixtape 2 Genre : House, Deep House, NuDisco, Indie Year : 2014 Total Time : 01:38:55 1. Synapson feat. Victor Deme - Djon Maya Mai (Original Mix) 2. Autumn Mixtape 2014 Volume 1
With Labor Day weekend behind us, it’s time to start rolling out some more heat, albeit in a chill kinda fashion.  The Autumn Mixtape is a series of personal picks that are perfect for unwinding or just zoning out. I’ve got a lot sitting on my hard drive at the moment and will be upping pt. 2 on Saturday followed by some more Millennial House Classics and a new Diva Series.  I’m getting the EDM bug again as some great stuff has finally made it to my ears, so I’ll likely be starting in on that soon. Remember, due to the nature of the Mixtape Series, there are no cue files that will accompany them.  Hope everyone is gearing up for the weekend.  I’ll be back early Saturday.  Until then ….ENJOY! Serve Chilled
I had some free time about a week ago (yes, I am granted that small window of luxury on occasion), and was checking out EDM Sauce’s list of 14 Songs to Add to Your Summer Playlist.  I already owned about half the list where some had been recently used in the 2014 Beach House, while others I was not yet familiar with.  This reminded me that I had been stowing away songs into a separate folder since last year with the intent of creating a new chill set but never got around to working on. it  I decided now would be the perfect time to resurrect the Chill section of the site and maintain it going forward. The four sets listed there now are no longer available and likely will not be going forward.  I like to think of these as my creative masterpieces or Pink Floyd’s “The Wall “ LOL.  Put together at a very dark time in my life when the relationship between Rick and I wasn’t exactly stellar and also a time where so much bitterness, hate, and uncertainty was being spewed by the crazies on the right in this country, I stitched together songs from different genres with a series of sound effects that reflected not only my mood but that of the turmoil in the US. If you rewind even further back to 2008 and 2009 in the Party Favorz history, I used to make a series called the Deep Edition.   It consisted of a lot of Deep House, Electronic, and overall songs that were typically moody by nature and didn’t fit in with the other work I was doing at the time.  By 2010, that series was killed off entirely.  Since the 2011 re-boot of Party Favorz, I’ve had countless people tell me that the Deep Edition was hands down their favorite series.    I didn’t have the kind of stats that are available to me today to gauge its popularity so maybe I made a mistake. Jumping back even FURTHER, I used to make mixtapes for all my friends every year at Christmas.  My mixtapes typically consisted of a few popular songs intertwined with cool cuts and artists I thought people should know about.  I’ve had more old friends tell me that because of those tapes, they discovered this artist or this type of music and still had the tapes to this day.  Who knew my passion for all things music could make such an impact?  I’ve always done what it is I like to do and then share it with anyone willing to listen. Jumping forward to the original topic at hand, expect the Chill sets I plan on putting out to be a little of the Deep Edition and mixtapes from years past.  Likely a mixture of genres that are often moody but with an overall happy tone to level it out.  The first one I’m putting out is a combination of House, Deep House, NuDisco, Indie, and a slice of heavenly Brazilian samba thrown in for good measure.  It is eclectic, to say the least, but cohesive enough for you to follow.  In short, I think you’ll get it and if not, this series ain’t gonna be for you.  That’s okay cause everybody knows Party Favorz has something for just about everyone. As I had mentioned in previous posts, I will be taking an extended vacation from the site over the next month.  I will definitely pop in for Madonna’s annual birthday mix and I plan on putting out a summer farewell set by the end of August titled Summer XO.  If I don’t reduce my services on my Libsyn account at the end of July, I may just quietly post some older sets that I wouldn't mind having available for posterity's sake.  I’m not saying for certain but you know me, it’s always hard to just walk away from my baby for too long, even if it’s for a self-imposed mandatory rest.  If anything, I’ll still be around to answer your questions like “how do I download a song?” LOL Until Madge’s B-day… ENJOY! Lean Forward [Chill Edition]
Since last night’s victory, I have been riding on a natural high. All the tea party nuts had been defeated except the crazy lady married to the big old queen, Michelle Bachman. That’s okay, she narrowly scraped by and will likely be doomed in two years when she’s up for re-election.  Her brand of crazy is no longer welcome in the US Congress. Obama pulled it out with the popular vote and the electoral vote. How wide a margin will largely depend on Florida once the count is finally tallied. A big heaping thanks to those that stood in line (up to 4 hours) after the polls closed to make their vote count. The American people appreciate your resilience. It just goes to show that no matter how much money the Koch brothers or Sheldon Adelson throw into our system, they weren’t able to buy our government, because we the people (at least 51% of us) are smarter than that. I hope your investment was worth it because a couple of Supreme court justices will be retiring and Barak gets to replace them. I fully expect the disastrous Citizens United to be reversed. Giving corporations personhood status and allowing folks to dump as much money into our campaigns to buy off congress all in the name of free speech is quite possibly the most fucked up decision these right-wing thugs have ever decided on. I give you the final Chill Edition for the year 2012. Lest we forget, I’ve packed it with all the highlights of right-wing nuttery from the year as well as those cases that made national headlines and brought shame to our great nation. I’m off tomorrow and will get back to the regular business of this site by working on a holiday electro set for your folks. Thank you for your patience as I worked out my demons in these chill sets. Divided We Fall [Chill Edition]
I finally started making some headway on this set.  I’ve had so much going on the past several weeks, I didn’t know if I was /coming or going. I threw Rick a birthday party this past weekend (for what I don’t know, he doesn’t appreciate it) and once I got past that, I was able to sit down and start assembling all the music, sound effects, and video snippets I had been collecting for the past year. You better believe this was no easy task, especially since my headphones are shot. Essentially, Divided We Fall picks up where we left off with The Promise of a Better Life.  This time around, I expanded on the variety of genres and tempos of the songs to provide an overall satisfying soundscape. After checking out “other” chill sets, I wanted to separate what I do from the new age/elevator-type music included in the more polished studio releases. Then, there is the overall theme. It wasn’t my goal to be preachy but rather inform. Personally, I think it’s good to know what’s being said by our politicians and expose their hypocrisy, lies, and corrupt greedy manipulating actions, often done in the name of their “god.” Regardless of where your ideology lies, this set and the follow-up next week provide food for thought. It’s best to listen through a headset or earplugs to get the whole feel; if you’re just in it for the music, by all means, play it in the car or on your home stereo and bypass all the blather in-between songs LOL. The music IS that good. Between now and election day, I’ll be finishing up the second half and dropping that sometime after the 6th. If you’re in the US, be sure to get out and vote on the 6th, or better yet, VOTE EARLY! Until next week…ENJOY!
