Featuring LAMPLIGHT RADIO PLAY & FOREST 404, + 2 complete series, and 3 new seasons coming soon!
Greetings, and welcome to The End Last Week, This Week, and Next Week, the podcast companion to The End, the listener-focused directory and weekly newsletter that shines a light back on audio fiction shows after they've reached the finale of a season or the conclusion of the series. I am your host and the curator of The End, Evo Terra.Let this be your 2nd warning that this podcast is likely going away. I may replace it with something else… but I also may not. So if you love it or have ideas, now is the time to tell me. I doubt it’ll be here next week. Email me at updates@theend.fyiLet’s get into it, shall we? Last WeekThe most recent issue of The End—the 78th—highlighted 4 shows in either the Recently Completed Series or Recent Season Finales sections… and 2 of them wrapped in the last few days.🌲😱🪲 • The Love Talker, a dramatized folk horror tragedy series from W. Keith Tims & Alien Ghost Robot & Celebrity Tumour, is fully complete as of the 28th of February and has a listening time of eight hours across 10 episodes. I’m on the 2nd episode myself.🏔️🏕️🔥 • Torchwood: Sabotage, a dramatized scifi action story from Big Finish, is a complete story that was published by Big Finish on the 22nd of February. Listen to the story in just over an hour. And be sure to listen to the end of the audio file to hear trailers or snippets for these shows. This Week With every issue, I make two recommendations for great audio fiction I personally love. As with all things in life, YMMV. 🖤❤️😨 •  My first recommendation is LampLight Radio Play, a dramatized "quiet horror" anthology from Andrew Wardlaw, who won the 2017 Sarah Award for Best New Producer. This show contains great stories performed by great talent. And it’s exquisitely produced. If you like Twilight Zone-type stuff, you'll enjoy this short and completed anthology. Here’s the teaser: [trailer plays] LampLight Radio Play is fully complete. Enjoy all 12 episodes in a little over 3 hours.🎧🌳📼 • My next recommendation is Forest 404, a dramatized environmental thriller from BBC Radio 4, is an impressive audio storytelling adventure, mixed with conversations with experts and soundscape episodes. And it helps that the material trips all my post-apocalyptic triggers. Here’s the trailer: [trailer plays] Forest 404 has been complete since 2019. You can listen to all of the 9 story episodes in about 3 hours. Or if you choose to listen to the conversation and soundscape episodes as well (they’re nice too), plan on a 6-hour journey.Next WeekThe latest issue of The End has 6 entries in the New Seasons Coming Soon section, and 3 of them start up again in the next few days. Season 2 of

I am your host and the curator of The End, Evo Terra. Before we start… I’m thinking about either stopping or totally overhauling this companion podcast for The End. I’m just… not happy with it. I assembled the first one in haste and have kept the format. But I’m just not sure it’s all that important. If you feel differently, or you have an idea of how to make this better—perhaps more than just a companion podcast—do let me know. Email me at updates@theend.fyiLet’s get into it, shall we? Last WeekThe most recent issue of The End—the 77th—highlighted 6 shows in either the Recently Completed Series or Recent Season Finales sections… and 3 of them wrapped in the last few days.🦅🐏🐻🐺 • Birds of Empire, a dramatized post-apocalyptic fantasy series from Jason Lew & QCODE, posted the Season 2 finale on the 22nd of February. I have this one on my list and am looking forward to the 14 hours it’ll take me to listen to the 28 episodes of the first 2 seasons. Yes, I’ll listen to Season 1 again.🔍🍭🔪 • The Land Whale Murders, a dramatized and narrated historic satirical comedy series from Roi Gold Productions & Fable & Folly, posted the Season 2 finale on the 21st of February. You can listen to the 26 current episodes in about 11 and a half hours.👽🔒🚀 • Master!: Planet Doom, a dramatized scifi series from Big Finish, was posted as complete on 20 Feb 2024. You’ll need about three and a half hours to enjoy this tale from the Doctor Who universe. And be sure to listen to the end of the audio file to hear trailers or snippets for these shows. This Week With every issue, I make two recommendations for great audio fiction I personally love. As with all things in life, YMMV. 😱💥😮 •  My first recommendation is The Lion's Den, a narrated soulful narco-thriller (think David Ayer) from Voyage Media. It's the story of a narco who found God but couldn't escape the cartel and went undercover for the DEA to take them down. If you like hard-hitting crime stories that thrust you into the action, this short show may be just right for you. Here’s the trailer: [trailer plays] The Lion's Den is complete, and you’ll need less than 2 hours to listen to all 4 episodes.🗽👷‍♂️🧐 • My next recommendation is Burning Gotham, a dramatized historical fiction from The WallBreakers. This hard-hitting work of historical fiction is fabulous! Immersive, well-produced, and always gripping! Listen to the trailer for a taste: [trailer plays]

As with all things in life, YMMV. 🏕️😮☠️ • My first recommendation is The Dispossessed, a dramatized supernatural thriller from Glisten+. The Dispossessed is part of a brand-new series of podcasts featuring top-tier SAG actors. It joins other series such as Can't Relax, League of Wonder, and Boss Monster Adventures in the GLISTEN+ slate. As for this show, it’s very well produced, and rather timely given the topic. It's neither "jump scare" nor gory horror, so it may appeal to those who don't normally go in for the frights. Here’s a snippet from the first episode: [snippet plays] The Dispossessed is a complete series with 8 episodes. You can listen to it all in about 2 hours.🧠🔪🏃‍♀️ • My next recommendation is Narcissa, a dramatized scifi thriller from QCODE Media. This show is produced with all the QCODE quality you expect, and presented as an unlikely scifi love story. It’s worth a listen. Here’s the trailer: [trailer plays] Narcissa is complete with 8 episodes. You’ll need about 5 hours to listen to it all.Next WeekThe latest issue of The End has 9 entries in the New Seasons Coming Soon section, and 3 of them start up again in the next few days. Season 9 of Am I Old Yet?, a dramatised slice-of-life comedy series from Flloyd Kennedy &...

Ok, now I know why people get addicted to this show and never want it to end. It *feels* like Dr. Who, though it’s not *like* Dr. Who. The writing and acting are superb. The storylines as goofy as they are poignant, though it takes a while to see the latter. Here’s a snippet of the first episode: [snippet plays] Midnight Burger currently has three completed seasons, with Season 4 slated to start in April. If you want to catch up before them, start now, as you’ll need about 42 hours to listen to the current 44 episodes.💸🥳👯‍♀️ • My next recommendation is The Lamb, a dramatized comedy show from...

As with all things in life, YMMV. 🌞🎢🕵️‍♀️ • My first recommendation is Mockery Manor, a dramatized comedy mystery series from Long Cat Media. This show is a joy to listen to. Which is an odd thing to say about a murder mystery, I know! Exquisitely produced. Incredibly well-acted. And just the right amount of absurdity. Here’s the Season 3 teaser: [teaser plays] Mockery Manor currently has 3 seasons with 37 episodes, giving you 17 hours of murder-mystery funhouse-slash-amusement park fun!🏛️🗳️😰 • My next recommendation is Terms, a dramatized thriller from Airship. This show is political intrigue at its best. The outstanding performance and production will help, as the subject matter is a little too close for comfort. Again. Here’s the teaser: [teaser plays]

But it's also soundscaped, with some subtle—and some not-so-subtle—sound effects to enhance the experience. Caution: The narrator's voice is extremely soothing. I'm not saying you'll fall asleep listening if you're stoned, but it can happen. Here’s the trailer: [trailer plays] The Trees Swallow People is complete with a single season of 24 episodes. You can listen to it all in about six and a half hours.🎮🚔🫢 • My next recommendation is Restart, a dramatized thriller from BBC Sounds and the makers of The Cipher, starring Armin Karima of Sex Education. SCROOGE: A CHRISTMAS CAROL & LAST KNOWN POSITION + 2 season finales, and 2 new seasons coming soon!
Greetings, and welcome to The End Last Week, This Week, and Next Week, the podcast companion to The End, the website and newsletter that shines a light back on audio fiction shows after they've reached the finale of a season or the conclusion of the series. I am your host and the curator of The End, Evo Terra.Let’s get into it, shall we?Last WeekThe most recent issue of The End—the 66th—highlighted 3 shows in either the Complete Series or Season Finales sections… and 2 of them wrapped in the last few days. 🇺🇸🧟🎶 • Pale Columbia - A dramatized historical fiction series from Justin Heyman & Just Likely Productions, posted the season 1 finale on the 5th of December. Listen to the 6 current episodes in about two and a half hours. It’s about zombies. And Thomas Jefferson. Yeah. As with all things in life, YMMV. 🎄🎭✨ • My first recommendation is SCROOGE: A Christmas Carol, a dramatized classic holiday story from Mark Ramsey Media & Hope Media Group. I featured this partly because Christmas is just around the corner. And because the all-star cast—a hobbit and a dwarf you’ll recognize—and some exceptionally well-crafted sound design make for an amazing story. It seems quite true to the source material, if memory serves. 'Tis the season, after all. Here’s the extended trailer: [trailer plays} SCROOGE: A Christmas Carol is a complete series. Enjoy the whole thing with a bowl of gruel in just two hours.🌊🛥️🦑  • My next recommendation is Last Known Position, a dramatized horror thriller from QCODE Media, starring Gina Rodriguez and James Purefoy. I've been on a "monsters from the deep" kick recently, and SPOILER!—This one is top-notch. The storyline is great, and the acting and sound design really bring the script to life. Not that I want giant monsters from the deep to come alive, but you take my meaning. Here’s the trailer: [trailer plays] Last Known Position currently has one season, and you can listen to all of those 8 episodes in under five hours.Next WeekThe latest issue of The End has seven entries in the New Seasons Coming Soon section, and two of them start up again in the next few days. Season 18 of Selene, a dramatized supernatural mystery and horror series from Aaron J. Reardon & Rusty Quill, starts on 12 Dec 2023. Give yourself about 27 hours to catch up with the current 79 episodes.Season 4 of

Everyone’s Happy & Fulmar’s Folley + 1 complete series, 2 season finales, and 2 new seasons coming soon!
Greetings, and welcome to The End Last Week, This Week, and Next Week, the podcast companion to The End, the website and newsletter that shines a light back on audio fiction shows after they've reached the finale of a season or the conclusion of the series. I am your host and the curator of The End, Evo Terra. An astute listener like yourself may have noticed there was not an episode published last week. That’s because my “traveling mic” broke, and finding a replacement in the tiny town I was visiting on Thanksgiving was an impossibility. But I’m back in the studio now and have procured a replacement, so it shouldn’t happen again.Let’s get into it, shall we?Last WeekThe most recent issue of The End—the 65th—highlighted 6 shows in either the Complete Series or Season Finales sections… and 3 of them wrapped in the last few days. 🎥🧣🎙️ • Crews Control, a dramatized improvised comedy series from Ari Goldberg, Pete Broderick, Jason Guss & Asylum Podcasts, wrapped the entire series on the 30th of November. Listen to all 175 episodes in only 148 hours. Yeah, you heard right. 148 hours of content for you!👁🎙🏳‍🌈 • Radio Other, a dramatized surreal horror comedy from Finley Cole, posted the Season 1 finale on November 26. As with all things in life, YMMV. 🇬🇧🧪⛈️ • My first recommendation is Everyone’s Happy,  a dramatised scifi series from GravyTree Media. I'm a sucker for dystopian fiction, even stories like this that aren't post-apocalypic. But it's a good plot with excellent voice talent. You should listen. Here’s the trailer: [trailer plays] Everyone’s Happy currently has 8 episodes for a listening time of under five hours, with Season 2 slated for next December.😱😢💀 • My next recommendation is Fulmar's Folly, a dramatized scifi series from Static Airwaves. Listen, you had me at "zombies on a boat", and Fulmar’s Folly kept me with incredible storytelling, outstanding acting, and exceptional sound design. Listen to the trailer: [trailer plays] Fulmar’s Folly Season 1 has 9 episodes for about 8 and a half hours of excitement. Season 2 is planned, but is yet to be announced. Next WeekThe latest issue of The End has 3 entries in the New Seasons Coming Soon section, and two of them start up again in the next few days. As with all things in life, YMMV. 🌊👫🌟 • My first recommendation is Lake Song, a dramatized scifi series from Make-Believe Association. Not all post-apocalyptic or dystopian stories need to be terrible, nearly hopeless tales of barely eeked-out survival. This is one of those stories, told through the voices of a talented cast and sound designers. Listen to the trailer.: [trailer plays] Lake Song is a complete series. You’ll need about 5 hours to listen to all 12 episodes.🕰️📞🌟 • My next recommendation is The Dial-Up, a dramatized sci-fi comedy series from Philip Catherwood. This one is short and sweet, but it’s a fun premise that's nearly perfect for a fiction podcast. Here’s the Season 2 trailer: [trailer plays] The Dial-up currently has 2 seasons with 9 to total episodes. You’ll need less than 2 hours to catch up, with Season 3 slated to start in September next year.Next WeekThe latest issue of The End has 4 entries in the New Seasons Coming Soon section, but none of them starts up again in the next few days. I’ll take this time to tell you two things:I recently revamped the newsletter and show pages on the website. You won’t see those changes if you only read the newsletter, as email formatting is much less...
